This Privacy Policy explains how GarageToys ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the GarageToys mobile app (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

We collect only the information needed to run the App and its features:

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password. Your password is stored securely by our authentication provider and is never visible to us in plain text.
Profile information. Information you choose to add to your profile, such as your name, username, profile photo, and links to your social media accounts.
Location. If you grant permission, we use your device's location to show how far away nearby spots, trails, and pins are, and to sort or filter them by distance. Location is used while you are using map features and is not tracked in the background.
Photos. Photos you choose to upload when creating map pins or events. These are stored on our backend and shown in the App.
Content you create. Pins, events, RSVPs, and other content you add in the App.
Purchase information. When you buy products through the App, checkout is handled by our e-commerce provider (Shopify). We receive order totals to award loyalty points but do not store your full payment card details.

How we use your information

To create and manage your account and profile.
To provide core features: the map, pins, events, RSVPs, the shop, and loyalty points.
To show distances to nearby locations when you use location features.
To send account-related emails, such as email confirmation and password resets.
To award loyalty points based on qualifying purchases.
To keep the App secure and to prevent abuse.

Service providers we use

We rely on trusted third-party services to operate the App. These providers process data on our behalf:

Supabase Authentication, database, and photo storage.
Shopify Product catalog and secure checkout.
Resend Sending account emails (confirmation, password reset).

Each provider has its own privacy practices governing how they handle data.

Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. Information is shared only with the service providers above as needed to run the App, or where required by law.

What other users can see

Some content you create is visible to other users by design — for example, map pins, events, and the profile information and social links you choose to display. Please avoid including private information in content you post publicly.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or specific content (such as a pin and its photos), the associated data is removed from our systems.

Your choices

You can edit or remove your profile information at any time in the App's settings.
You can turn off location access in your device settings; some distance features will then be unavailable.
You can delete pins and events you created, which removes their photos.
You can request deletion of your account by contacting us at the email below.

Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.

Security

We use reputable providers and reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to keep your data protected.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
